Week 4: The Three Billy Goats Gruff

This week in Reception we focused on the story The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Children learnt to retell the story in their own words and they wrote their own sentence about the story. It is great to see them attempting to write independently using their phonics skills.

In Topic class, we discuss the same story and talked about the bridge the goats had to cross to get to the other side of the valley, where the sweet green grass grew. Children worked in teams to build their own bridges. Working together as a team is not easy, we must share our ideas and listen to others' opinions. RB and RP showed great teamwork skills!

In Maths we learnt about capacity and children really enjoyed working with the water beads and experimenting with different jugs. We have learnt the difference between empty, half-full and full.

In ICT we spent some time in the ICT Suite to develop our computing skills. Children practised their phonics skills whilst developing their mouse control.

It has been a lovely week and we hope you have a wonderful weekend!
