Week 9: Art Week!

Wow, what a fantastic week this has been! Children have had so much fun learning about the jungle and create jungle related art projects. Art was really at the center of our learning this week!

In English, we reviewed all sounds learnt this year, as well as all Tricky Words. Children impressed us as they could remember lots even after the week-long holiday! We also completed a writing activity linked to a craft. Children created jungle scene collages and hid jungle animals in them. They then wrote about their hidden animals.

In Maths we began to learn everyday language related to money. Children learnt phrases such as 'How much?' and 'I would like this please.' On Friday we went on a trip to the tuck shop and bought snacks with our very own money! What an exciting trip that was!

We now have new Interactive Touch Screens in all Early Years classrooms and it is such a brilliant resource! Children are exploring the equipment and this week they have practised their reading and writing skills on the screens.

We are also practising our dance for Loy Krathong, this will be another great event for our school community!

Take a look at our Facebook and Twitter pages, you should see us there as well!

Week 8: Half Term!

What a wonderful week it has been for our Reception classes before leaving for our Half-Term Break! In class, children continued to work with their phonics sounds as we began learning the Phase 3 sounds /j/, /v/, /w/. Children are also learning to write Tricky and High Frequency Words and they are impressing their teachers with their skills!

In Maths, we learnt more about shapes and we enjoyed going on a shape hunt! We realised that their are lots of shapes in our environment and we practised our counting!

This week we also practised our dance for Loy Krathong and children are already learning the movements quite quickly!

In Topic class, we learnt about the jungle, which will be our theme for Art Week when we return from the holiday. It is an exciting theme for the children!

We wish you all a wonderful break, and can't wait to hear about your holiday when we come back!

Week 7

This week in Reception children worked hard to continue developing their phonics skills. Now that we have learnt more sounds, children are becoming more and more confident blending sounds to beginning to read and write simple CVC words. Next week, we will beginning learning Phase 3 sounds!

In Maths, children enjoyed learning outdoors and they were able to trace, name and describe several 2D 'flat' shapes.

In PSHE, we learnt about our rights and discussed important things in our lives such as clean water, homes and school.

In Topic we talked about our families and the people who are special to us. Children had lovely things to say about their parents, grandparents and siblings.

Finally in ICT, we went up to the ICT Suite and children practised controlling the mouse to play online games helping them with their Maths and Phonics.

We wish you a wonderful weekend!
