Weeks 14 & 15 : Sports Day and Father's Day!

We have been extremely busy in Reception the past two weeks. Not only have we continued learning Phase 3 sounds such as /sh/, /ch/ and /th/, but we have also completed Christmas Writing. Children are progressing well and it will be a pleasure to meet with you, parents, and discuss their achievements during our Parent-Teacher meetings.

In Maths we have learnt to find out the total amount of objects between two groups.

We have had so much fun during our Sports Day this year and are pleased to have had so many parents joining us!

Last, but not least, we have celebrated Father's Day with our families! We hope you have had a wonderful day together to celebrate.

We are ready for our Nativity on Monday 9th and can't wait to show you! We have had a very successful dress rehearsal and I am sure you will be more than impressed!

Week 13 : Public Speaking!

Busy bees we have been in Reception this week!

In Maths we finished our review and children continued to demonstrate great progress!

In English we learnt the sounds /sh/ and /ch/ and made sure we could hear and say the difference between both sounds. We began blending to read and segmenting to write words using the new sounds and all the Phase 2 sounds previously learnt. We also wrote about our Weekend News and children are showing great improvement.

We have spend a good amount of time rehearsing for our Nativity play 'Everyone Loves a Baby'. This is a great learning opportunity for the children as they get to perform on stage, practise their public speaking skills, develop their confidence and be introduced to acting! Children are learning fast, and we can't wait to show you the final result!

Congratulations to Pine and Lua who are our Poetry Competition Winners!

Week 12 : Happy Loy Krathong!

This week was review and assessments week in Reception and we spent the week looking at the sounds we have learnt in phonics and the new skills we have developed in Maths this term. Children worked individually with their teachers and demonstrated their progress and their ability to blend sounds to read, segment sounds to write and read and write Tricky Words. It was wonderful to see the children's improvement since joining Reception and it also allowed the teachers to set new learning targets.

This week we have also been getting ready for Loy Krathong and we are excited about the event taking place tonight. It will be such a great gathering for our school community! We hope you have a wonderful Loy Krathong at Regent's!

Don't forget to rehearse the poem at home, we will update photos of our Poetry Competition next week!
