Week 2 : The Little Red Hen

The highlight of our week has been making bread, just like the hen did in the story The Little Red Hen! Children really enjoyed being great helpers and working together. This week, they have also worked with the new sound /ng/. In Maths, we introduced the concept of length and children have learnt to compare objects by saying if they are longer, shorter or taller. It has been a fantastic week!

We have also been practicing for our Chinese New Year assembly!

Welcome back! Term 2 : Week 1

We were so pleased to welcome the children back to school this week and it has been a short, but exciting week in Reception! Children reviewed all the Phonics sounds learnt in Term 1 and really impressed their teachers! It is great to see they are ready to learn new sounds. 

In English, children shared about their holidays and they attempted to write a sentence along with a picture. 

In PSHE we talked about being responsible and children had to care for a toy for a period of time. They all demonstrated a great sense of responsibility.

In Topic, our story was The Little Red Hen. Children made masks representing the different characters.

Weeks 14 & 15 : Sports Day and Father's Day!

We have been extremely busy in Reception the past two weeks. Not only have we continued learning Phase 3 sounds such as /sh/, /ch/ and /th/, but we have also completed Christmas Writing. Children are progressing well and it will be a pleasure to meet with you, parents, and discuss their achievements during our Parent-Teacher meetings.

In Maths we have learnt to find out the total amount of objects between two groups.

We have had so much fun during our Sports Day this year and are pleased to have had so many parents joining us!

Last, but not least, we have celebrated Father's Day with our families! We hope you have had a wonderful day together to celebrate. 

We are ready for our Nativity on Monday 9th and can't wait to show you! We have had a very successful dress rehearsal and I am sure you will be more than impressed!
